CHAPTER TWELVE
After a few hours of driving TJ turned off of the road and crossed a bridge over a slow flowing river. He turned and parked under a shady tree.
"Cool, swim time." Cody jumped out of the truck and started undressing.
TJ and Stian followed and before long three naked bodies dived into the clear, cool water.
Cody watched as Stian stroked through the water. He was a good and strong swimmer.
"Hey Stian," TJ shouted, "do you swim for a team."
Stian laughed, "Am I that good?"
"Fuck yeah." shouted Cody, "I'm on the swim team at school and you're pretty damn good."
"Hey I want to see you guys swim against each other."
"Hey, I don't mind." said Stian, "You want to race me across the river Cody?"
Cody started feeling nervous. He didn't want to look bad in front of TJ but he couldn't turn down the challenge either. If he did it would've looked like a cop out.
"Yeah okay."
All three of them stood naked on the bank of the river. "Ready.... GO!" shouted TJ.
He watched as the two dived into the water and started swimming. TJ could swim but he was never a great swimmer - he couldn't have entered a comp like this.
Both boys were straining every muscle as they stroked through the clear water. Legs were kicking furiously and the water boiled behind them. At each breath Cody could see that Stian was right there, next to him. His arms were feeling like lead, he hadn't swum for a while since the season ended and he wasn't feeling that strong. Stian could see Cody next to him and gave himself a kick and pushed harder - he felt himself moving faster.
From the bank TJ could see Stian start pulling away from Cody.
Cody pushed harder and the bank came closer. He caught up to Stian just before the bank. They both ran up it together and put their arms up for TJ to see.
"Fuck yeah." said TJ under his breath.
Cody looked at Stian, "You're a fuckin slacker, you coulda beaten me easy. Why didnt ya?"
Stian was breathing heavily, his stomach heaving in and out, his six-pack abs perfectly shaped as his stomach went in. "I just didn't have the go to keep going at that speed. Another 10 yards and you would've beaten me Cody."
"Race ya back?" Cody smiled.
"I don't think so." Stian laughed.
They swam back to where TJ was swimming.
"You guys are damn good. Listen they have a Summer swim comp in Bowling Green. All the schools take part. Why don't you guys enter?"
"'cos we don't go to school there, simple."
"So register for one Summer class, come on - do it for me. I want to see you guys win this thing."
Cody stared at TJ, "Register for school? In the fuckin hols? You're crazy."
"Hey Cody, it may not be so bad, we can register for Phys. Ed and just do swim training during that time."
Cody could see the pleas in TJ's eyes. "OK, but if I get any fuckin homework you guys are doin it."
They all laughed.
They sat in their shorts under the tree, eating the sandwiches that TJ had got from the diner.
Stian swallowed, "Are you two gay?"
TJ looked at him, "Why?"
Stian looked at the ground, "Because I think I am."
"Why do you say that?" TJ asked
"Well, you know this morning, when I was sucking your woodies?"
"Yeah?"
"Well, it's the first time I've done that - but I like it. I like it a whole lot. And when I see you undress and I see your bodies I can feel myself getting a woody. And the juice runs out of my dick."
"You like girls Stian?"
"Yeah."
TJ moved closer to him. "Well, both Cody and me like girls too but we also like looking at guys and we really like it when we touch each other."
Cody watched as Stian paid attention to what TJ was saying.
TJ went on, "Well, we are both bi - that is, we like both girls and guys."
Stian smiled, "I thought this morning that you two would talk about me because I did what I did."
Cody piped up, "Hey viking, if you didn't do that we woulda heldya down on the bed and raped ya." They all rolled on the ground laughing.
The journey continued.
"About 70 miles to go guys. This is Briley Parkway. It will take us to interstate 65 and then home."
"I'm kinda nervous." Cody fidgeted with his crotch.
"Don't be, my folks are really looking forward to meeting you."
"And me?" Stian asked
"Don't worry Stian, I phoned home from the diner and told my folks about you and they reckon you can stay as long as you want."
"That is much too cool," smiled Stian.
Both Cody and Stian fell asleep. TJ turned up the radio. All the radio stations were playing Frank Sinatra music. Old Blue Eyes had died that morning said the news.
'BOWLING GREEN 5 MILES'
TJ read the billboard. A few minutes later he saw the turnoff on to US231. He turned and then woke up Stian and Cody. "Hey guys, almost home."
TJ was excited about being back home. He missed his folks and his brothers and his dog and now he had his best friend with him plus a new friend - what could be better.
Cody and Stian pulled their T-shirts on while rubbing the sleep out of their eyes.
TJ turned the truck into a driveway and then stopped and hooted.
Both his mom and dad came out of the house to greet them.
His mom grabbed him and gave him a huge bearhug and kissed him, "I've missed you."
"Hi mom, I've missed you too. Hi dad." He hugged his dad.
"Dad, mom - I want you to meet Cody from South Africa."
TJ's dad put out his hand, "Hi Cody - I feel like I know you as well as I know my own boys. Welcome to our home."
TJ's mom gave Cody a big hug, "Welcome to America Cody."
"And this is Stian who I toldya about on the phone"
"Hi Stian - on your way to Cali huh? Now who would want to live there?"
Stian smiled as he shook TJ's dads hand. "Thank you sir."
Stian also got a hug from TJ's mom. She was full of hugs and the boys loved them.
They went into the house. TJ's dad walked next to him, "Your brothers will be home in a few hours and your cousin Mark as well no doubt. He has been a pain in the ass every damn day - asking where is TJ? when is TJ coming home? how much longer? A right damn pain. Why couldn't he be more like my cousins - we hated each other."
TJ smiled as his dad went on about Mark.
"Hush now. You boys want some pie?"
Cody looked around. TJ had always told him that his family was like the family in Wild America, the movie. He was right. He loved it here.
The three boys sat down as TJ's mom brought the pie to the table.
TJ grabbed a piece.
His dad looked at him "You gonna give thanks boy?"
TJ blushed, "Sorry dad, I wasn't thinkin."
The five of them held hands. TJ gave thanks for the safe journey that they had had.
