Wishing you a Cody Christmas

Christmas was always a special time for Cody. It was a time when he could give his friends gifts, as if he hadn't been doing that all year anyway.

It was also a special family time. The fire would be lit and his friends would move in and out as they came around to wish him and his folks. Everyone thought the world of Cody's folks, probably because they treated every one of his friends as if they were their own kids. I'll be going around to visit them on Christmas Day and have a bite and just to relax in their company. I don't think this Christmas is gonna be any easier than the last one, but I know there will be more than a few of Code's buds who will drift in to wish them.

I'll speak for Cody now and wish all of you who knew him and even those who have only just come to know about him, Peace, Love and Respect this Christmas. Spend time with your family and friends and make them all feel special, because as Cody would say.....

"They are!"

Cody News Number 27 - December 2002

I hope that all of you guys have been managing to see the Flash graphics that I've been messing around with. Pity if you can't cos them my little ego takes a pounding.  Nah, only kidding. It's just that I've been doing a bit of playing around with it whenever I get a chance but it's a helluva damn app. Don't know enough about it to really get into the meaty bits, but maybe that's okay else the damn graphics would be too big, but I'm quite impressed at the size that they have been coming out at, just about the same as a normal jpeg or even smaller sometimes.

So you got plans for Christmas? Hope so. It's really the whole holiday scene which makes it kinda special. Time off to hang with the buds and to surf and maybe even get some camping or hiking under the belt. I'll be spending some of Christmas Day at the T's.  Christmas there was always the scene of hanging around in the pool and just chilling. Swimming, eating, goofing off.

Whatever your plans are for the holidays, I hope that you all have a good one and remember those special people in your life.  Not with gifts, but with your friendship.  Sometimes we say things in a hurry that we did not really mean. Now is the time to apologise for those comments that have probably gone a long way in ruining a perfect, loving friendship.

To the guys in FunTB chat - Thanks for being such ridiculously great buds :)

Gary.  Loveya!

Peace Bro.

Have a Pool Party these Holidays

I know a lot of you are gonna be spending the holidays in the snow, so if you can, find an indoor pool or head to some cool summer spot where it's hot and you can get all sweaty.

Theres a lotta chicks who would dig to get a string of pearls for Christmas. Me? Yeah.. me too.. but it's not those kinda pearls :) It would be cool to just lay there on my back and let them drop gently on to my tongue, with the other end still attached to something solid.

Fancy dressing up for the holidays? Hey, that's fine with me. As long as you dress up like Cody over here and show off your assets and I can tellya with some authority. My bud had assets :)

IMPORTANT:  THREE MORE COPIES OF CODY NEWS WERE FOUND BY JOAO OF BRASIL.  Codynews 12, 13, 14 and 15 are now loaded on to the Cody News pages and are definitely well worth the read. Read about what Cody had to say about quite a lot of things.

The beach was one of Cody's "Happy" places. He would spend hours on the beach thinking about anything that came to mind but mainly to get rid of things that were worrying him.

He also went to the beach to meet friends and make new ones.  It was at the beach during one of my surfing sessions that I met the Codeman.

Cody always wanted a pony for Christmas :)

DREAMS

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.

She said, "Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?"

I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may and she gave me a giant squeeze.

"Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked.

She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, have a couple of kids..."

"No seriously," I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

"I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me.

After class we walked to the student union building and share a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.

Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it
up.

At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech she dropped her three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, "I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know."

As we laughed she cleared her throat and began,

"We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor everyday. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!

There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.

Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding the opportunity in change. Have no regrets. The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets."

She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose."

She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.

When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they'll really enjoy it! These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE.

REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL.

We make a Living by what we get,
We make a Life by what we give.
God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.
If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it.

That's it guys (and gals). Until the next time, keep your stick wet.

"Peace, Love, Respect"

Steve.
